SIX SENTENCE SUNDAY FOLLOW UP
Jessica Subject kicked off her membership with an informative post about Six Sentence Sunday. If you missed it, be sure to read the article and check out the Six Sentence Sunday phenomenon--a great exercise for writers. (Six Sentence Sunday is the brainchild of fellow Brigader Sara Brookes.) Several Brigaders participated this week and there was quite a turn out. Personally, I was duly impressed by the fabulous writing and how much fun it was to participate.
ROLL CALL
We're taking a roll call on the SFR Brigade web site and asking members to identify their respective regions in hopes we can coordinate future activities, conferences and cons by region. Please stop by the web site and let us know the force is with you. Thanks to all who have reported in so far.

THE GALAXY EXPRESS ROUNDUP OF SFR RELEASES
Check out The Galaxy Express New Release Roundup for a run down on all the great SFR releases due for 2011 release. An awesome list including the work of Brigaders Robert Appleton, Sara Brookes, Marcella Burnard, Sara Creasy, Ella Drake, Heather Massey, Pauline Baird Jones, Gini Koch, Lisa Paitz Spindler, and T.K. Toppin. (Did I miss anyone? Please comment!) Thanks to Heather Massey for pulling it together. Brigaders, email me with your release dates for our web site calendar! [Lgreen2162 (at) aol (dot) com ]
WINTER WRITING FESTIVAL
Need some compelling motivation to make this a productive writing season? The Ruby-Slippered Sisterhood announces the RSS Winter Writing Festival, beginning with posting your goals on January 10th and running to the end of February, on their blog. YOU set your various goals (many examples included) and in the comments on the link above, then check in to report your progress in the comments. A special web site was introduced on January 6 and will included a chatroom, special pointers and inspiration, and swag! (Check out the many great prizes!) What a fun way to engage your muse. I registered today and I'd love some fellow SFR writers as company!
MORE PREDICTIONS
I stumbled across Amy Corwin's Predictions for Publishing on her blog, and it's just too amusing not to bring to your attention. Oddly, though it's meant as humorous (and how!) and tongue-in-cheek (to the max), I'm not so sure that she's that far off base in some of her intuitive musings. Love the title she came up with for a future release!
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"Respect is the ultimate currency."
From the movie Inside Man.

Thanks again for the mention. Getting reviews is a bitch.
ReplyDeleteI did get a marvalous (pun intended) review on Ultimate Duty from Lisa Lane. I am reciprocating, so this review thing is not a one-way street.
Jessica Subject will be visiting my blog on 1/13, so I hope everyone will drop in and give her a hard time.
I do have a new book out. Not SFR. Matter of fact, it's for the kid in all of us: The Tales of Abu Nuwas. Now available on Smashwords as a freebie if you know the secret password (coupon code). Want a copy? Email me at mgdasef (at) gmail.com to get the link and coupon.
Signing off for now.
Marva, could you please post a link to your blog on the 13th so everyone remembers to drop by?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the having a new book out!
