SFR Evening Post

Thanks again to Nick DiChario and Arlene Webb for a very entertaining interview.

Tomorrow our feature post will be a report on the CONDuit event by Jaleta Clegg, who participated in the SF/F/H general conference in Salt Lake City on May 28th -30th.

There are currently several new or active discussions on the SFR Brigade web site forums:

Critique Groups?

A Contest for Brigaders?

Blog Tour List

SFR Advocacy: What Can We Do as a Group?

SFR Evening Post

Hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend with plenty of sun/cookouts/writing acccomplished, as the case may be.  We're heading for final approach for RWA nationals in Orlando next month and there's a RWA chat section in the forums where we can talk about workshops, events, spotlights, the hotel(s), a SFR Brigade get-together, or anything else that comes to mind.  Here's the link.

A couple of notes on upcoming features:

Tomorrow, June 2nd, we have an interview with SF author Nick DiChario by Brigade member Arlene Webb.  I hope you'll all tune in for an entertaining read.

On June 8th, we'll have a Book Launch Party and book giveaway connected with Katherine Allred's Close Contact.  This second novel in her Alien Affairs series has already been named a Top Pick by RomanticTimes!  It should be a fun event.

Remember, with the new posting guidelines you're no longer restricted to a particular day of the week to post. You're free to post on any day, but please allow two hours after the last post or four hours if it's a feature (if so, it should state this under the labels.)

SFR Evening Post

Good evening, Brigaders! Welcome to the first of our SFR Evenings Posts!

Like many of you, I work full-time (and then some) so I’m a bit scarce during the day. In order to better communicate what’s going on, going down and coming up with our community, I’m going to start posting updates, discussion topics and activity ideas in the evenings (Mountain time USA) several times a week.

For tonight, let’s talk about Publisher’s Showcase which begins next week, Monday, May 17 and continues to Friday, May 21. I’m really looking forward to this event and doing recon missions on all these great publishers.

In order to let our Publishing Showcase have the spotlight next week, I’m asking that we suspend all posts during the five days of May 17 - 21 in order to focus on the publishers who’ve been kind enough to take time out of their busy schedules to join our showcase and answer our hosts’ questions. Let’s give them all a warm welcome and have questions and comments ready. Meanwhile, you can post away this weekend…and next weekend is fair game, too.

To help promote the event, please think about how you can help get the word out to other interested parties next week. Here are a few ideas:

Deploy the Twitter Brigade
Post links on your blogs and web sites
Mention it on Yahoo loops
Tell your online critique groups or partners
Tell your local writers groups and RWA chapter members
Email your writerly friends

Thanks in advance for your support for this big event, Brigaders.
