  1. This is so off-topic but i'm desperate. Anyway, I was going through R. Lee Smith's blog and I stumbled upon her describing a book she read years ago: "I read a book once in which the alien hero kept his reproductive apparatus in the palms of his hands. As a priest sworn to celibacy, he went gloved throughout the story, but it was obvious he was falling in love with the human heroine. At the end of the book, as she stood on the landing dock with her ship behind her, ready to fly away forever, she looked him in the eye and held out her hand. He took his glove off and shook it. It was sex; he knew it; she knew it; no one else knew it, but it wasn’t anyone else’s business." Unfortunately, she doesn't remember the book. I apologize for this but I really want to know and since you have an extensive list of sci-fi authors and books, I thought you guys could help. Thanks in advance.

  2. Hi Kat,

I've forwarded your question to one of our more widely read members, and also posted it to our discussion group. Hopefully we can come up with an answer for you, but I can't promise.

    1. Thank you! Crossing my fingers that someone knows the book, I'm just captivated by its description. Sounds really interesting.

  3. Hi Kat,
Well we're coming up blank so far...but now everyone else wants to read it too, lol! We're still checking a few places, but someone suggested contacting the Smart Bitches blog - they do a 'find this book' spot, and they have a huge reach so they might have better luck. I'll try posting the question on this blog midweek to see if that gets any suggestions. Sorry we haven't been able to find you an answer so far.

  4. Alright! Hopefully someone there is familiar with it. I've been searching for it for months now, good thing everyone else wants to read it, it heightens the chances of finding the book. :-) I really appreciate this.

  5. I'm going to go crazy trying to remember, but I know this book. It's part of a trilogy I have packed away still in my keeper books. Loved these, though they are a bit rough. I'm hitting a blank on the titles! But I'll be back as soon as they come to me. ;)

  7. Got it! This drove me nuts trying to remember. I found one book in the trilogy at a used bookstore years after it came out--and this was a long time ago--then searched out the other two books. But I'm pretty sure you're talking about Francine Mezo's trilogy. Fall of Worlds, Unless She Burn and No Earthly Shore. They came out in the very early 80s.

  8. Oops, the first book was The Fall of Worlds. :)

  11. You're very welcome! I'd forgotten all about these books and how much I liked them, so it was fun to remember. And yeah, I had a horrible time finding her books after discovering one in this trilogy. I think ebay has copies. ;)

  12. Yup! I searched for the books on ebay and thankfully found them. Too bad I'll have to stay patient for this month since I still have a pile of books that I need to finish reading(and I don't have enough money to burn) haha.

  13. Found the whole trilogy on eBay, too. Pretty reasonable. Haven't checked Amazon but it may be available through some of their book sellers if not on the main site.
