SFR Discussion Alert!

If you're registered on the Barnes and Noble site, please hop on to the B&N Community Sci-Fi and Fantasy Blog for an article and discussion on our favorite subject (which, by the way, prominently features one Brigader's work):

Shockingly Supernova: Who Knew Science Fiction Could be so Sexy?

It still amazes me that some readers aren't aware SFR is alive and well, and a growing subgenre.

  1. I really wanted to post my SFR in the comments, but thought that'd be kind of pushy or rude.

Should we SFR authors jump into such discussions with our books?

I don't want to come off looking like a Glengarry Glen Ross salesman.

  2. Hmm, I see your dilemma, Marva. Promotion can be a delicate line to walk.

Maybe mention you're an author and discuss elements in the article that illustrate why you write the niche genre or what you love about it? I'm sure if something you say strikes a chord, curious readers will look you up. I know I would.

  3. Interesting article! Glad someone is puffing SFR! Can not believe the cover for the Lindsey reissue! Could they run any further from SFR?

  4. It is good that the discussion is there. I'm glad SFR is getting press.

Marva, I agree with Laurie. You could mention your work. I think there is a fine line with promotion. But it's also good to find ways to bring more readers to SFR.

  5. Who knew SF could be sexy? Didn't he see Captain Kirk getting all those scantily clad green women? Of course, all us girls were more interested in Spock... the conflicted, mysterious, unattainable guy....

Er, what was my point? :D Oh, yes. Great to see the SFRs getting recognition!

  6. Sorry to be so late to the party! I was on vacation someplace warm and sunny with no interwebs. O_o At any rate - I, too, cringed at the Lindsey cover, but it isn't like I can claim *my* covers scream scifi, either. So, refresh my memory. Wasn't Lindsey the one who left the business because she'd been plagerizing Nora? Or am I thinking of someone else? Cause I'm not sure how I feel about being talked about in the same breath, you know? ;)

  7. I was wrong. It wasn't Lindsey - I was thinking of Janet Dailey. My very big mistake!
